Seeds for the future
Over the past year I decided to focus on “Do[ing] something today that your future self will thank you for” an idea coined by many but made popular by Sean Patrick Flanery. I must confess I have failed many days, and became an over achiever in others. But I realized something that I did not like when this became my priority.
This powerful quote reminds us that every day is an opportunity to make choices that will shape our future. It’s easy to get caught up in the routine of daily life, but with each action we take, we’re building a foundation for a future, better or worse for ourselves. But it is not just our future we are building but the future of those around us as well.
Too often this quote is viewed in a self-centered way but what if we rotated the perspective to be seen from a Christ colored lense? Galatians 6:8-10 (NIV) says, “whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good,.. as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,” This verse reminds us to persevere in doing good, not jus for ourselves but for all people. Even when we don’t see immediate results. With each small step, we’re sowing seeds for a better future.
Through Christ, even the smallest good deed can be the beginning of a brighter future.
Let us not grow weary in our pursuit of doing good, and let us continue to plant seeds of positivity and hope in our daily lives. With each small step, we are creating a future that is brighter and more fulfilling than we can ever imagine.
